Shows! Home Grown Live Music Festival, May 9th

Posted in mp3, mumbling at 12:12 pm by rgsc

A quick post to encourage you all to attend Kingston’s Home Grown Live Music Festival which is happening at venues all across town on May 9th. By my count there will be 68 bands from all across the spectrum – from folk, jazz, rock, celtic, country, etc. – so chances are there is going to be something that tickles your fancy. Check out the schedule for bands, times, & venues.

This event is raising funds to support Joe Chithalen Memorial Musical Instrument Lending Library (website is down, but trust me it is a great cause) and you can see it all for only $10 OR bring a non-perishable food for Partners in Mission Foodbank and get your all-access bracelet for only $5. That is a lot of music to support two great causes for very little output on your part. Homegrown bracelets and programs on sale now at Brian’s, Renaissance, Kingston Sound Works.

One not-so-home-grown, but nevertheless excellent performer who is headlining the BarNone show is Megan Hamilton.  Here is the lineup:

6:30 – DIRTY LICKENS
7:30 – THE MANTRA
8:30 – PASTURE HORIZONS
9:30 – ASSEMBLE ME
10:30 – SPREAD THE SECRET
11:30 – AGPAK MUM
12:30 – MEGAN HAMILTON AND THE VOLUNTEER CANOLA

and here’s a track from her recently released album “See Your Midnight Breath in the Shipyard” which I recommend you pick up.

And for those of you outside the Kingston area, here are a few more dates in Hamilton’s tour (check out her website for more details).
